A Life Line

A Life Line

In an independent report produced by Imperial College London and authored by Dr Iain Staffell, he is stating an extraordinary occurrence. Great Britain became a net exporter of Electricity to its European neighbours and raking into the economy an estimated £1.5bn within three months, (that’s about £110m per week). The power export drive happened in the second quarter of 2022. April, May and June of 2022 might have seemed pretty dark months as far as the everyday news was concerned with all the talk about the East European War and its repercussions in the rest of Europe.

The report indicates that in Q2 of this year, 5.5Twh of electricity was exported abroad, that is the largest amount ever recorded in reverse flow through the interconnectors.

Great Britain is now actively helping to keep the lights on in Europe and with every Country in the region all in a fight to regain energy security. The changing influences going on in European power generation with coal fired and nuclear re-emerging and gaining momentum will mean that in a short number of years, this crisis of energy security should resolve and balance itself out.
